Carousing with Corso
A few years ago I took the bus to NYC to attend an art book party eulogizing Allen Ginsberg & benefiting the Jack Kerouac School Of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. Dozens of artists, like Yoko Ono, donated signed art & photos filling each oversized book which sold for 5 or 10 thousand bucks each. Eugene Brooks (Allen Ginsberg's brother) kiddingly said to me "How many are you buying?".
It was way uptown, next to the Cafe Carlyle- everyone in su… Continue

Article on Hudson Valley Presses by Nina Shengold, Chronogram 2005

Hudson Valley Presses Hit the Heights
by Nina Shengold

Most publishers at Book Expo America, the massive trade show that filled New York's Javits Center in June, displayed their wares in booths surrounded by oversize posters, banners, and pop-up displays. Joan Schweighardt of GreyCore Press attended the BEA with a backpack full of her authors' books. It's a perfect metaphor for Schweighardt's "shoestring" approach: The big houses may have the marketing money, but she has the stamin… Continue

A review of two books from Shivastan Press

Independent publishing is an increasing rarity in the corporate dimension in which we are, by the merciless law of the state & the state of affairs in the new millennium, compelled to live and hopefully, despite obstacles, to evolve. Shivastan Press, w. books printed in Kathmandu, Nepal & distributed fr. Woodstock, NY, is the rare exception, printing handcrafted finely-illustrated chapbooks by some of the finest poets of our… Continue

"Not A Warhol" wildflowers anthology

The wildflowers Woodstock mountain poetry anthology “Not A Warhol” Edition

Since 2000 I have been publishing a poetry magazine called “wildflowers Woodstock mountain poetry anthology” which is printed annually in Nepal on handmade paper in a limited edition of 333 copies.
In 2007 I decided to make a theme edition and compile poems and artwork by friends I knew who had a connection to the late great Andy Warhol. One of my best friends, Allen Midgette, had acted in the neo-realist film movement i… Continue

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

About the book; pretty steep for me but maybe if I sell a painting or something. That would be great. Tantricky sounds good. I take it you had a most fulfilling time, then? That is so excellent. Give me a call when you're settled back in town & maybe I can get a ride over for a visit. Much love, as always. -Richie

I hope you are well. I was wondering if you'd be interested in publishing another book of my poetry, possibly in time for my performance at the LGBTQ Gay Pride Parade in New Palz in June. I'll also be riding on a float in full faerie regalia.
Love Always,
